this rain barrel was created to collect rainwater
Rainfall
can be plentiful or it can be scarce, but usually, it is not consistent.
Rainwater recovery manages weather extremes to benefit homeowners,
communities, and the environment.
Today, water resources are becoming more and more stressed by overuse
and unpredictable weather conditions. Rain recovery brings back
a centurys old concept, helping to manage water resources at the
source.
Water rights begin on every property where rain falls, but once
rainwater flows from your land it is lost, and (if available) you
might actually pay to get it back. Strategically placed rainsavers
can help prevent excessive runoff during storms and provide an ample
and renewable source of water for home and garden needs. Now you
can collect water when it's abundant, and use it when it's not.
Collected water is stored at favorable temperatures and chemical
free conditions that plants prefer. Municipalities can benefit from
reduced purification and chlorination costs by reducing demand for
water that's not used for drinking purposes. Additionally, by reducing
community storm runoff, streams are less impacted by drainage, and
treatment plants experience lower volume and less possibility of
sewage overspill.
In recent regional droughts, many municipalities have restricted
homeowners water use, and even those with their own wells have been
afraid to water gardens, trees, shrubs and lawns for fear of drying
up their wells. Collecting rainwater gives users independence and
preparedness for daily watering or future water shortages.
The Premium Quality Spruce Creek Rainsaver provides usefulness and
convenience, and overcomes many of the functional problems of basic
repurposed shipping barrels. Screens are used to prevent insect
entry, and closed designs reduce evaporation while providing safety
for children, pets and wildlife. The automatic overflow can be extended
(with standard 1 1/4 inch sump pump hose), so excess water can be
directed to a specific garden, yard, or distant runoff. By using
a perforated overflow hose, water can be diverted and trickled into
a gardens and yards, helping to manage stormwater runoff community
wide. Built with modern materials and components the Spruce Creek
Rainsaver also will withstand blistering sun, frigid cold, and the
deteriorating forces of nature for years to come.
With water becoming a more and more valuable and unpredictable resource,
rainsavers have once again become useful and timely tool for homeowners,
municipalities, gardeners and conservationists.
